May 23 is the season finale, not the series finale. The producers of Lost have said that the show is not ending till May 2010. Three more seasons from January to May for the next 3 seasons, 16 episodes each.

I don't understand how there is even a debate about who is in the picture. The woman is clearly Ally Sheedy (Mr. Yang) and the young boy is clearly young Shawn from the beginning of [almost] every episode. Maybe she was a teacher or something. And some people pose interesting theories, but others are ridiculous. There are certain rules to television shows. You can't make Shawn a bad guy all of a sudden. Nor could you make any other main character be a bad guy. It would be a complete betrayal to the show and the fans. Minor characters from the past, however, are definitely plausible. Mr. Yin could be someone completely new, or someone from the past, but in this case, the more stupid your theory sounds, the less likely it is how the show will turn out. But, the summer will be here before you know it and we'll find out the truth then.

It was just announced that Lost will continue on until 2010. That will then be their last season. They will have 3 more seasons of 16 episodes each without interruption.

ABC has confirmed 3 more seasons, 16 episodes each season, for a total of 120 episodes for the entire series. I also heard that each season will start in January.

**** NO, LOST has ages to go yet mate doesnt plan to finshe now untill 2010 with 3 more season after 3 (season 4,5, and 6) with 16 episodes in each with 48 all together.

No, there are going to be three more seasons. Lost won't finish until 2010, unless ABC decides to cancel it. The only way to prevent that happening is for the fans to keep watching!
