I was discussing with my grandma yesterday about how it was really wrong for women who are seeking employment (or have employment) in high paying jobs. Men are supposed to be the one's supporting their families and if women are taking those jobs, that means they will have to find lower paying jobs. Does anyone else think this is wrong??

No, I don't think it's wrong because sometimes in a relationship the woman is the breadwinner. Sometimes the woman is the one with the degree and higher paying job and it's up to her to support the family. I make double what my fiance brings home every month so really I'm the breadwinner. That doesn't mean he's less of a man or less in charge it just means that I can't quit my job if we want to continue to live this lifestyle.

The women have got the jobs because of their abilities and education...so why are you saying that they are stealing the jobs from the men? They won in the competition. And don't women support their families, too? How many single fathers do you see supporting their families? There are many more single mothers supporting children...
If a woman has a better brain , better aptitude and is more qualified for the job concerned, why should she settle for less pay?

Its a dog eat dog world. we are no longer in the 50's. These days women are fierce competitors in the job market and we men folk had better get used to it Women also have bills to pay and families to support and with the economy such as it is most people would be better off if mom and dad were working. now I dont like it when a woman uses her sexuality and looks to get a job that a guy was equally qualified for, but things like that sometimes happen-what can ya do?

Not everyone gets married. In order to get good jobs both men and women have to work hard to get degrees and have experience. Women have to support themselves and their children. I know a lot of women who have to support their families because the men will not step up and take responsibility for their lives and the lives of their children.

Whoever has the most skills, education, work ethic, etc... should get the jobs they need to provide a better life for their families.

I think the high paying jobs should go to the ones who are most qualified, be they men or women. Why should these jobs go to these men you speak of just because they need them to support their families? What if a single woman is more qualified? Would you sacrifice the quality of work and possibly the stability of our economy just so your perfect men can support their families?

Do you think it's fair that if a man gets that same job he will automatically be paid me for the same work?

If you would look around there are a lot of single mothers who have to support their children because the fathers won't. Besides it take 2 incomes to raise a family today.

This is 2007 not 1950. Sometime the best man for the job is a woman.

Hello Sands, NO i disagree with you. If a woman is more qualified than a man i say, Good for her. Women has always had to work twice as hard than a man has to. Women must show that they can do the job well and sometimes better than the man does.. It's not just a mans world anymore!
LOL.

No, because women need to help support the family, too! If a woman is more qualified for the job, than why hire a man who is less qualified? The woman's family's gotta eat, too! Don't forget the single mothers.

No it's wrong to keep a man in the position just because "he needs to be the bread winner" - if there is a women or man that could do his job better.

Basically whether the person has indoor or outdoor plumbing the best overall at the job should have the job.
