My husband and I got married in jeans and a tee shirt at his moms house...couldn't afford a wedding at that time. We decided to have a wedding on our ten year anniversary. Got 4 more years to go! I'm just 26 and still honeymooning!!!

I had a small wedding with only a few close friends and family that lived in our home town. Anyone from out of state was SOL because we planned and married within 10 days. I think that it's fine. We had a good time and the expense was less because of how few people were there. I was 22 and he was 25 yrs. old.

We eloped on Friday the 13th (we'd planned on a wedding that was to happen 4 months later, but decided to test fate...it worked!), just us. I have no regrets at all because it was a personal thing between us, nobody else. I'm not into weddings anyway and I was dreading the upcoming wedding, which, BTW, was going to be just close family and friends. Happily married for 23 years!

Well i am just recently married(march30th 2007) and i am 19. I have been with him for almost 7 years. We had our marriage ceremony in the mayors office with only our family and close friends, nothing big but it was nice ( pics on www.myspace.com/brittany02005) i would like to have a real ceremony with a dress and bridesmaids and everything but that isnt the important thing being together is, we do however plan to have a ceremony in 2 years. hope i helped.

Not if it's what I wanted. I want the big wedding, but I understand those who do not. It's a lot easier and much more intimate.

If that's what you wanted, then I don't see why you should be upset.

However, if you want a big get together, wait 2 more years and re-new your vows on your 5th anniversary. That would be very nice for everyone and special for you.

Best of luck.

It depends on how close you are to your family and friends. The two people getting married should always have what they want even if they have to wait to get it. I only had my Mother at my wedding and he had his Father and we had all our friends, it was a great party.

well your question is a little unclear, but i'll go with what i think you're asking. my husband and i only had a courthouse wedding, no 'real' wedding or reception. I have been thinking about it alot. i figure the average american marriage lasts five years. so on our tenth anniversary, i think we'll renew our vows with a real wedding and reception.
