I need to replace the VSS on my 528i. I was wondering if it was simple to replace it and also whether there was any articles on it.

Thanks

Vince

THAT IS TRUE, MOST VEHICLE SPEED SENSORS ARE LOCATED ON THE TRANSMISSION BUT IN YOUR CASE IT MAY BE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE ON THE TOP OF THE TRANSMISSION LOOKING DOWN.

was the pcm replaced recently? if its a 4 speed auto the output speed sensor is used for vehicle speed and the only way that code can come up is if the pinion factor is not programmed into the pcm/tcm. if it is a 3 speed then the speed sensor is located on the trans where the passenger side axle comes out of the trans.

You can always pick up a repair manual from your auto parts store. It will show you the exact location and what it looks like. Depending on the transmission you have Manual or Automatic it is located in different spots. Hope this helps. Be careful not to brake the plastic clip when you take off the wire harness.
