Ok, I've gotten what I think is my first ever yeast infection. It's driving me crazy! I have heard that yogurt helps it, but here's a silly question-do you eat it or put it on you down there? I have heard both. If you apply it directly, isn't that rather messy? does it go on the inside or outside of you? And how much do you use? Does it actually work?

I tried to set up an appt. with the doctor but they can't see me until July! I even tried calling another doctor and they can't fit me in until the end of this month. I'll go crazy before then, so I was just wondering what else I could do until I can see the Dr.

DO NOT PUT YOGURT ON YOUR GENITALIA! IT WILL MAKE IT WORSE!

The sugars alone in the yogurt will FEED the infection!

If you THINK you have a yeast infection, go to your doctor. If you treat for it and it is not that, you can strip your vagina of the normal levels of bacteria that exist there and create a problem.

If you KNOW it is a yeast infection pick up a box of monistat or something similar. 3-7 day treatments work better than the 1 day.

There is good bacteria in yogurt when you EAT it and it can help your entire body. If you really want to see an improvement, take yogurt capsules. This however will not cure a yeast infection, it will help it go away and help prevent another one.

Good Luck

a yeast inf is caused by an overgrowth of yeast . also if you recently took antibiotics that can cause them as well.
dont sit around in a wet swim suit as yeast likes to grow in dark moist places.
sometimes if your partner has "jock itch" he can give it to you too. for the yogurt it is best to EAT it. and make sure it is the kind w/ the active cultures. i know yoplait has them. its not used as as treatment but more so as a preventative measure. you can also buy over the counter acidophilis.(which is a pill)
when you get out of the shower make sure you dry yourself off very well before getting dressed.
you can use over the counter monistat. but be sure it is a yeast inf and not a bacterial inf or an std.. is the discharge white/clumpy? are you itchy? burning? is it red or irritated? the discharge should have NO odor. if there is then it is not a yeast inf and you need to see a dr.

You put it on your privates, inside. The good bacteria in yoghurt will consume the yeast that has bloomed. The best option is really to simply use a store-bought "ovule" kit that comes with an applicator and cream. I promise- it will be the best option, as everything else is very messy- especially the yoghurt, because of leakage! Even with the ovule kit, you will want to wear a pad/liner and breathable cotton underwear, because you will experience discharge. Don't wear a tampon- it won't let the yeast clear itself out! I hope this clears up for you soon- all of us (women) get these from time to time, and they are extremely uncomfortable. Get that treatment asap- if you're embarassed about buying it, just go to a drugstore in a different neighborhood, and pay for it at the back prescription counter. :)

Just eat yogurt with active cultures in it. If it is real bad buy the Monistat cream from like walmart ect. You can also buy the stuff in liquid and pill form, Lactobacillus acidophilus. I personally would stick with just eating yogurt for a few days.

Both! But make sure the yogurt you're putting below deck is natural, unsweetened yogurt, as sugar will make a yeast infection worse.

Yogurt works very well though, as it simulates the natural bacteria in your vagina.

I have never heard of using yogurt. (It has yeast in it so I doubt it would work)
Cranberry juice helps a lot though.
See your doctor to confirm your suspicion and he will advise you on an over the counter remedy.

Hi
I think the best thing to do is go to see your GP to establish the best and safest option to clear up the infection.

Yoghurt may well have been suggested but i would think a gp will be able to advise you of better ways.

Good luck
