16x^2 - 25

The difference of two squares always takes this form -- with the terms the same except for the sign between them. Just square the first term, write a minus, then square the second term -- aka (4x)^2 is 16x^2 and 5^2 is 25. So the answer is 16x^2 - 25. All of these can be done quickly like this.

this is called a "difference of squares".... simply F.O.I.L. (First, Inside, Outside, Last)
so:
(4x+5)(4x-5)
=(4x)(4x)+(5)(4x)+(4x)(-5)+(5)(-5)
=16x^2+20x-20x-25
=16x^2-25

4x (4x-5) + 5 (4x-5)
16x squared-20x+20x-25
16x squared-25

Think of this to help:

Please-----parentheses
Excuse-----exponents
My-----multiply
Dear-----divide
Aunt-----add
Sally-----subtract

You have parentheses. Do those first. 4 x 5 = 20.
Do the next parenthese. 4 x -5 is -20. (4 x 5 and the -)
Now, add 20 + -20.

There you go.
Thanks for a free 2 points.
