I have an 1989 Chevy Beretta and I just got the engine replaced. The car was running good for about a month. I can drive the ar just fine for about 10 or 15 minutes. After that time goes by the car will shake alot and then when I come to a stop it just cuts off. It will start right back up but when I shift it to drive it immediately cuts rght back off. This will keep repeating unless I leave the car off for about 25 to 30 minutes. I've been told it was the fuel pump, crank scensor, or the transmission could be going. Can anyone please tell be what the problem could be?

Thanks alot, Johnnie

Sounds like a bad EGR valve or ignition coils or module...somethings not right but only when it warms up. Some electrical problems crop up under heat also like ignition coils or module go bad...very common on 3.1 engines with high miles plus when one goes bad, it put's a strain on the rest of the coil or module components and they usually fail pretty soon afterwards.....my 93 Grand Prix 3.1 would misfire very bad but only when hot...turned out the module had a hairline crack and was arcing when warmed up. I suspect it's one of those two items but with a 3.1 motor you have 3 coils and some auto parts stores say they can check them but I don't think they are checking them properly...you would have to warm up the car and then remove them quick to see if they're bad when warm....same thing for the module.
If you're going to keep the car since you've replaced the motor already, I would replace the coils and module....might run a couple hundred dollars to do but consider it an expensive tuneup that should be done. I think it will solve your problem.
Hope this helps, Paul
