1) Innocent can be killed. Many death row people have been found innocent based on DNA testing or other new recent ways to find out the truth.
2) Everyone has the right to 'live'
3) No one has the right to take other's life.
4) Death penalty is easier for the culprit. Hard time with labor behind bars is more severe punishment.
5) People can change. Death Will not give them chance to change.
6) Kill Sin, not the sinner.
7) There is no 'humane' way to kill a person, be it hanging/electric chair/ injection or otherwise
8) Death penalty can traumatize the innocent family members of the person.
9) It is non-civil/brutal/barbaric way of meting out the punishment.
10) We are not animals and we can think. We should think of better alternative then death penalty.

1. Hmmm... every now and then they might get the wrong guy.
Doesn't justify doing away with it though... why should we abolish the death penalty? Just because it only gets rid of 93% (assuming above statistics are correct) of the those convicted of capital murder (first degree) and there's a possibility that we might make a mistake every now and then and put the wrong guy to death. That's great... yet make it perfectly legal for pregnant women and doctors to kill all the innocent youth they want to. Libs cry for a convicted felon that had his chance in society and blew it by taking an innocent life... but no tears shed over a baby that never even got it's chance.
What a screwed up nation we live in...

Right now, the technology of DNA mapping has released many many persons who were in jails & prisons. So, either this new technology is flawless, or it's overrated. It is difficult to believe that many people were found 100% guilty are now walking. So, that is #1 against the death penalty - never certainty of guilt.
#2 witnesses are not that reliable, due to environment, stress, fear, or influence.
#3 morals; some think of it as murder (I don't; I see it as killing, because it is by peer review & preponderance of evidence, and is not personal)
#4 popular way to get someone permanently off the streets
#5 some see it not as a deterant (I do)
#6 Historically, there is negative history of lynchings without trial or under the 'kangaroo court' mentality
#7 Can be mass-histerics based - emotion driven of getting even / vandetta / eye-for-eye / hatred
#8 Never very speedy between time of trial ended, sentencing imposed, and death penalty carried out = $$$$
#9 Used for political gains by those in office or trying to win votes for office
#10 What may be deemed as 'justified' for death penalty in one society may not be that serious in another society. It's all according to society's expectations and acceptable behaviors - can be religious influenced as well.
* I did give you 10 items to consider. I'm for the death penalty, but I do believe to do DNA testing on all persons who are on Death Row to clear up any discrepancies. If the person on Death Row was charged & given the death penalty on one murder, but other murders suspected were brushed aside to focus just on the one primary charge, then I believe that old files need to be reopened and DNA run on those cases as well. It is possible that the suspect did NOT committ murder on the single case that landed them on Death Row, but he/she DID commit murder on some other case.....if that be, then this person needs to be cleared on ALL cases, or remain in jail for life in an alternative to being on Death Row...

2 motives to assist it: one million.) the only a hundred% thank you to ensure there'll be no repeat offenders. via putting criminals in prison for all times, you're putting the guards who a lot watch them in risk. you're putting the familiar public in risk additionally because of the fact there is the possiblity of get away. you're putting different inmates in risk. loss of life penalty is barely a hundred% thank you to ensure a unfavourable individual won't injury each physique else. 2.) Justice. while you're taking $5, then you definately owe $5. Justice demands which you fix what became into taken. besides the incontrovertible fact that, while you're taking a life, there's no thank you to swap that. No quantity of time, attempt, or money will each deliver somebody returned to life. the only form of justice for murderers is the loss of life penalty. not the rest can stability the scales.
