Avoid the Puma or Reebok ones...although they are big sports companies they have no history at all of making bats, and the quality is unproven. You are mainly paying just for the "big name manufacturer" sticker on the bat!

Go for a well-known traditional cricket brand. Slazenger have been making bats for at least 70 years and their best bats are top quality and used by many Test players.

I have been buying bats for ages and I have to say that SS bats are the best market value, and are used by all the Indian, Sri Lankan batsmen. They also design bats for other bat makers such as Woodworm, used by Pieterson and Flintoff. I liek the SS ton matrix with the biggest sweet spot of all the bats ever seen and curve is good for a batsmen with control still looking for power.

Never buy anything from Pakistan or from India because you will end up buying a fake item. If you want to buy a bat for the life time then you should go for Kookaburra Or Gun & Moore.
