You don't need a wireless card for your desktop computer, and if you did, you can always find a wireless USB connector with it's drivers that connect to the router.
Most wireless routers have a ports that connect to your desktop directly and add up to three more desktops (RJ-45 Network, the connector that's bigger than the phone connector RJ-11).
If you want to connect everything together (A Network), make sure every computer has the same workgroup. To get there:
Click Start>>>Right Click My Computer>>>Click Properties >>>Click Computer Name Tab and see if it says MSHOME or WORKGROUP. All should have the same to connect together.
Then go to Control Panel>>> Network Connections and configure "Create a new Connection".
If you need help, Click Start>>> Click Help and Support find Networking including "Sharing Files and Folders"
Regardless, always read a lot and prepare before going into action. Also, check to see if the router works with either a/b/g/n.

On the back of the router there will be ethernet ports as well, you can just plug it in w/o getting wireless. If you want wireless you get get a belkin wireless g usb adapter for about $29 new at best buy or a comparable electronics store. If you're setting the router up near the computer don't bother just plug it in there will be fewer problems.

if you have a wireless router it will still most likely come with ethernet ports on it so you can continue to connect the desktop via a wired connection... but if you WANT to go all wireless, including your desktop, you'll need a wireless card for it

Nah, even wireless routers normally have like 4 wired ports in the back, so you can still hook up your desktop computer with an ethernet cable.

Just about every wireless router has at least 4 wired ports on it, so no, you don't need anything extra for your desktop.

Most router will support LAN connection, so just a matter of a network (CAT5e) cable and you are in.
