I have a fish tank and stand in the basement. The measurements are 4 feet long by 1 feet 4 inches wide by 1 feet 8 inches high.

so u got 48x16x20 inches, this comes out to 15360 cubic inches. when converted to gallons, done easily by typing 15360 cubic inches to gallons in google, you get 66.5 gallons
15 360 (cubic inches) = 66.4935062 US gallons
beats the hell out of measuring with a bucket.

When calculating the actual amount of water the holds, measure the inside of the tank - while this looks like a 65 gallon tank, the volume will be a little less. Also, if figuring out the dosage for medications, and GPH for filters and powerheads, you'll have some water displaced by gravel and decor.

You can always calculate aquarium size by multiplying length times width times height then multiply by .00433 this will give you volume in gallons.
So 48 inches X 16 inches X 20 inches = 15360
15360 X .00433 = 66.5 gallons
Essentially a 65 gallon tank.

ONE gallon (US) is 231 cubic inches. 277.42 cubic inches for an Imperial gallon = British gallon/
Now go go go on with the calculation and make us proud...
L" x W" x H " = divided by 231 = ? gallons
You don't need GOOGLE for everything in your life, do you??

There's a mathematical way to do but Im to hungover to figure that out right now. So watcha do is..... Get a 5 gallon bucket and go from there see how many 5's it takes to fill it UP. Goodluck

I'm betting that is a 75 gallon tank. Mine is 48x18x20, and yours is almost about that. Possibly 70?

One aquarium gallon calculator says it's 26, but I could be wrong. Go here-http://www.firsttankguide.net/calculator.php and punch in your calculations.

Try maybe, filling it up with water one gallon at a time, counting them as you put them in, until full..........there's your answer, and no I'm not trying to be a smarty***!
