Will people ever stop negatively stereotyping black people??

I see a lot of negative questions on here about my black people. They stereotype us as being ghetto, uneducated and always having an attitude. Not all black people act this way, and it is very ignorant for anyone to group stereotype a race of people. Very rarely are whites, asians or any other race stereotyped in such negative ways as blacks are. Here we are in the year 2007 and many people still act as if blacks still belong in slavery.
I love people for who they are not for the color of their skin. I will not treat anyone any better simply because they are white, hispanic or anything else. Will people ever stop hating blacks?? Will we ever be judged on an individual basis?? What's your thoughts on this??

NEVER! When this world finally comes to an end there will still be racist amongst them. People hate on other people to give their own lives more substance. They will never focus on the good things black people have done and are still doing. They would rather focus on the others that have fallen.

There are several points to be made here. First, the fact that there are many black people who live in the ghetto and stay there is a big reason for the stereopype. The problem is that it is very difficult to get out of that vicious cycle. Now that doesnt mean that black people are inferior to white people. It is because of slavery that the whole cycle started in the first place. Black people have been at a disadvantage since they arrived in America. A good analogy might be the following. Assume there are 2 people who are about to race. One of them has been malnourished. He is at a clear diadvantage and to say he cant be a better runner is foolish. He obviously does not have the same advantages as his competitor. The same concept may be applied here. Black people have many more obstacles than white people. Unfortunately, the sad truth is, that untill the cycle ends the sterotypes will continue. However, in most experiences of life the people you encounter will not judge you by your skin color once you have interacted with you. Even though this is unfair, it still means that in any given situation you will have the abililty to be judged by who you are and not what you look like. Let us all pray that a day will come soon when this will be a thing of the past.

Im not trying to start anything but i have seen some blacks and hispanics sterotyping whites in negative ways. Its not rare that whites are sterotyped by black or any race for that matter. Yes we are in 2007 but there are black people treating whites horribly because some white people have ancestors who owned slaves. I myself have been harrassed just because i am white. I agree that i want everyone to be treated equally. I just dont want people to think that blacks are the only ones who are attacked on a daily basis.

You just did what you are claiming others do, stereotype. Nice job, I doubt you even realize what you did.

As for your main point, you are asking people to not be human. Clearly you watch too much TV and movies, here is a hint: that is not real life. Blacks stereotype just as much as anyone else, don't be naive. Fact is the world will never be perfect, and it's just human nature to judge others that are different than you. It has happened that way since the beginning of time, and will never change since it isn't a "learned" response.

i'm black, and that i think of black human beings stereotype ourselves in the media extra so than vice versa at present. no person forces the black human beings in the media to rap or grow to be soccer and basketball gamers (and all of them act merely like what they are; thugs from the ghetto) OR play stereotypical roles. And that's humorous, maximum of those stereotypical roles tend to be in "black video clips" (directed, produced, and written by ability of different black human beings), and are continuously the comparable; glorifying gang lifestyle or that kind of existence-type. that's different from in the previous as quickly as we did not have a call, which makes it even worse that folk want to act like that and don't ideas being seen that way.

yo0o0o u r the first person i have seen on yahoo ansers that is truely smart. I totally agree wif you. I am frum india but my skin is really light. i go to this school where 95% sstudents are african americans. Soon after I came to this school I started making freinds. all african americans aren't the same. and so aren't all white people. every race or skin color is the same. it just depeds on their personalities. the reason african americans are " ghetto" to sum people is because they never had real black freinds. theres nothing wrong wif any skin color. all the ****** who make up these rumors are idiots

other cultures including african americans will stop stereo typing black people when we stop stereo typing ourselves. I am black and love all black people. every race has an stereo type, but that doesn't make one race better than the other, but it does has an effect on who feels this way and why? and most of the time its because of the way one feel about themselves. I am proud of all those stereo types that are out their, I could turn probably all of them into a positive fact, i will never be ashamed of being black, to me it's a blessing because we are strong people and most of the stereo typing that is out their about us is based on pain related issues that we HAVE overcome. People are always going to be people, and they're always going to have faults. Unfortunately, some of them have ideas about other races and there is nothing you can do to change it. But the best reaction you can give, SMILE with CLASS and you know you're not the small-minded dimwits they are!
