I know all the rationale--BUT it still comes down to learning to socialize withOUT medicating the stress away while meeting new people.

I don't drink, smoke, or party (in the sense that you mean). I think there is a lot more to life. Watching a sunset, going to the beach just to feel the breeze, watching the sun rise over the ocean, taking a hike up a mountain, going to the mountains during the fall and watching the leaves change, watching my kids open a present, that first hug I get every morning from my children, a good book, a great book, and watching movies about silly people who get drunk and smoke and party to much. I could go on for days but I am going to go enjoy life! :)

Yes, NOT drinking, smoking and partying.
There are a million things out there to do that will help another person.
Life is filled with needs that need to be met, so each of us should do al lwe can to meet needs of others, lift the heavy loads, dry tears, offer encouragment to a hurting person.
Personally I think people who drink, smoke and party are selfish and blind, not to mention stupid.
It is stupid to destroy one's body with booze and smoking.
I'm sorry, but just being honest here.

Well Gee....if that's all you do life sucks . that sounds like me at 15 but i still did other stuff like shopping going to the beach. Its sounds like you need a life. How about actually spending time with fam and friends with out smoking and drinking or find a hobby. or something. I know my days are full with kids/husband and work. Try to wake up before the sun goes down.

Sure, write something meaningful, visit a good museum, sketch something that catches your eye, read a book, hold an intelligent conversation, watch an artsy movie, take a walk on the nature trail, snap a few pics of nature, help something grow, chase a tornado, watch the first spring flower bloom, feed the birds so you can hear their song and provide a birdbath because it's a sight not to be missed when they bathe, sit on a hill and watch a storm roll in, go for a stroll in the rain, walk in winter twilight when it's snowing lightly, fall in love.

Don't forget that the unexamined life is not worth living. There is a lot more to life after the honeymoon is over.

There is no life in those things. So called "living it up" is really dying. Drop them and you'll find more to life, real life.
