You have to connect your hdd as a Secondary , you can change jumpers on the harddisk.

Start up the pc with the good hard drive as usual on the other computer, but attach YOUR hard drive as secondary. Boot up to the original hard drive and go to My Computer and retrieve your stuff from YOUR hard drive.

Hope you have a flash drive or something to send your retrieved items to. You won't be able to retrieve any programs as they're tied into the registry, but at least you can copy your documents and pictures, etc.

If you are interested, I have a service where I can recover data from hard drives. I can recover most files even if the hard drive failed, filing system lost, and then reformats and even more.
I also will guarantee my price to be the best of the best out there, so if you are interested, then email me.

You cant because of HAL, so what you need is another working computer, plug your old drive is as slave, then you can read data and save off it. Or use a USB2 enclosure for the purpose
