#1: Weight doesnt matter!
#2: listen to these tips, and you will be the best cheerleader EVER!

I have cheered for 5 years and im on the varsity squad at my high school. Here are some of my best cheer tips/ secrets:

- stretch EVERYTHING everyday
- sit in you splits (right, left, middle) for 5 minutes everyday. that helps a lot in flexability. (bridges also help a lot with flexability and strength)
- i suggest going to a gymnastics gym to get some help in the tumbling background. some stuff you can do on you own with tumbling is to do hand stands, cart wheels, round offs, back walk overs, etc. (simple tumbling) everyday. tumbling is a must with cheerleading. most squads require a back handspring, so you should look into that.
- do crunches, push ups, and any other type of work out everyday. cheerleaders have to be really strong.
- there is really nothing you can do about stunting on your own. if you want to be a base or a back spot, you have to be really strong. if you want to be a flyer you have to be strong, flexible and a small built person (skinny/light)
- for you jumps, do 10 spread eagles, 10 toe touches, 10 pikes, 10 right hurkies and 10 left hurkies everyday. it really helps. with jumps the best thing to do is stretch and just do a lot everyday.
- for cheer help practice cheer moves in front of the mirror (for example: high V, low V etc.) Your motions need to be REALLY stiff and strong. no loosy goosy stuff.
- cheerleaders have to be loud, so go in you back yard and practice yelling "Go Fight Win" from you diafram. DON'T SCREAM IT! yell from your diafram. trust me, you will know when you are using it.
- my biggest tip i can give you is to get a couple of cheerleaders that have been on the squad in the past and have them help you.
- if some of the stuff i have said to you is like a foreign language (meaning you don't know what it means) go ahead and look it up online. the internet is a big help.
- also practice SMILING! a cheerleaders smile is their biggest asset.
Good Luck!

Cheerleading takes time and dedication. You have to be able to stunt, jump, yell(cheer), be spirited, and (depending on your school) tumble. 140 lbs. is not too much to be on the team. Your motions need to be sharp, toes pointed during your jumps, you need to be loud, and you need to look like you're having fun.

Talk to girls (or guys) that you know that are cheerleaders at your school, to find out what you need to be able to do for try-outs. And even get together with that person or people so that they can help you out.

If you are serious about trying out, Stretch, stretch, stretch!! As well, as stretching practice your motions in front of a mirror and your jumps. Also make sure you smile and that your motions are sharp!

The requirements depend upon the team. You need to ask the coach if tumbling is required. Your weight should not be an issue, especially on an all-girl squad, where the bases tend to be really sturdy in build.

Okay those humans are supplying you with terrible solutions!!! Okay, cheerleading is not established to your weight. It's established on how lively you're and the way lively. The handiest side of cheerleading thats established on weight is who you fly undoubtedly they are gonna placed the smallest lady at the best. Just usual experience. So simply paintings to your motions smiling and love what your doing while you cheer. Good good fortune!

must be hot, and able to bounce around frantically in a short skirt.....just joking..... My fiance was a head cheerleader for years and I think that they just look for someone who is good at tumbling for the most part.
