This is called emotional abuse and it leaves deeper and longer-lasting scars than most physical abuse. I've been there. If you are in this situation, you need to get out. This is not love. The person might feel a passing affection for you, but does not appreciate you. You deserve better; you can find someone who will truly love you and appreciate the wonderful person that you are, without treating you like garbage. Please don't do this to yourself-be strong and get out.

its possible, it maybe have alot to do with how a person is raised up though. It sounds like you or the person you are discribing is doing exactly what their parents did to each other. What it takes is the person that is treating the other person horribly to sit down and examine why they are doing what their doing, this might be the only way they know how to love and its a learned trait from someone else.

Yes, it is possible. However, this is not your REAL question. That is most likely something like: "Why do I treat those I love so badly?" That is a tough question because you have to ask yourself those tough questions that none of us ever feel comfortable asking ... Am I happy with myself? Do I try and destroy everything that is precious? What did I inherit from my parents? How do I really feel about myself? Am I worth this guy? or any guy?

By the definition of love I use, no, it's not possible:
Love is patient and is kind; love doesn't envy. Love doesn't brag, is not proud, doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Yup, wives do it all the time. Okay, some husbands do it too. Heck, everyone has mistreated someone they care about at one time or another.

I think so. There is anger that can make a person respond to others that way, even people they love....but something has to be done. It doesn't make it right.
