If you hold on to it, it will rot you from the inside. You should forgive, you do not have to forget. You are not God, you can't forget (unless you have a medical condition).
I have held on to bitterness and the only way I could get rid of it, was by forgiving. I will never forget. If I forget, I change who I am and I don't learn.
