I was in Stamford Bridge last week, some of the fields are now part of the river defence but the majority is still as it was! I had no luck there nothing but tin cans and iron sheets! Cheers.

go to a place called stamford bridge about 2 mile out of york. there was a big battle there, i cant remember which 1 but they are always finding stuff there. if you go there from the york side, as you come to the bridge on the other side of the river you will see some fields. its about 20 years since i was last there hope they havent built on it.

You should not.
Because by going trophy hunting you disturb the ground layers, and ruin the historical information.

If you want to do metal detecting, go to the beach, that is the place where you will do the least damage.
