In our area that's about 3-4 times what we pay. I'd ask the electric company about why it seems so high and see if they can check for you.

I only have propane for cooking and it's about $90 a year to fill the tank. My electric bill on the other hand is about $200 a month but higher in the summer with the A/C. My home is not heated with gas or electric though In the next town over, they have a different electric company and the rates just went up 46%!

holy CRAP thats expensive!!
I had a small 2 bedroom apartment for 2 yrs, and the last year my hudro bill was abotu $450 a MONTH-- for a SMALL apartment- I called the hydro company and asked them to look into it, and it turned out that the jacka*s college kids downstairs had figured out how to hook their hydro up to MY meter. AND they were growing pot!! It takes some work, but people CAN steal your hydro.
Call the company and ask for a hydro useage audit, and insist they check it out. Say you have reason to believe there is a majoy problem with your hydro output and billing amounts. They should come out and do a home check to see if anything needs to be done. Some states (I live in Canada, and ALL provinces do this) have home energy efficency checks you can get done for free or really cheap. Also ask hydro about energy efficency home checks you can do yourself, or have done. I mean, even if it costs you $200 to have a home energy efficency inspection, and it ends up saving you $ monthly on your bill, you're ahead of the game...

Good luck!

No way! I have a four bedroom house with two levels and my heat is $112 a month and my electric is $102. That's a lot of money, you should see if your electric or gas compnay offers free home analyzers and have them come into your house to check it out. Washer, driers, ceiling fans, fans, ACs and dishwashers use a lot of energy, but not to that extent! I'd check that out and pretty quick !

My bills only run around 20-30 dollars a month. A little more when I run the A/C. Call the utility co. and have them inspect your system.

What i'd try and do is caulk around your windows and other areas where air could be escaping from your house. depending on how old the house is, it will develop areas around the house that air will escape causing your AC to work more than normal.

my energy bill is anywhere from $65-$100 per month. i live in a 900 sq ft home. i would say that $700 is not normal. we use energy wisely, but are not largely conservative with it. contact a home inspector and your energy company and talk to them.
