He is smaller than his brother and always has been, i only have those two in the tank. His eyes are dark and protruding, whereas the other has clear flat eyes. When i came in, i found him on the side of the filter, so i turned that off. He swam around a bit but is now mostly at the bottom. Is there anything i can do????

I'm sorry to say it sounds like a internal infection involving the fishes liver. The dark protruding eyes are a symptom of that. If that's the case and as weak as the fish it I wouldn't hold out any hope at all even with immediate treatment.

I'd say that most of the other people are correct. If he was already stuck to the filter, it means he is losing control of his bodily functions. The only positive note I can give you is that he appears to still have control of his swim bladder if he can move up and down. MM is correct with the assessment on the eyes. From what I've read, the symptoms you are describing sound like a parasite infestation. I am thinking that either the bigger one was strong enough to fight it off, or it first infested the smaller one, however a good amount of these parasites habitat the water waiting for another host. Keep a close eye on the bigger one.

Be careful of youre other Fish. The Tank is probably contaminated by the sick Fish and you need to keep Fish that is Healthy in another Tank. When Fish is Dead clean Tank out put new Water in and condition Tank with Water conditioner Tablets before putting Healthy Fish back in Main Tank. I am Afraid your sick Fish is going to Die, best to put it out of its misery by putting it in a Glass of Crushed Ice and covering it that kills them gently. I used to Keep Fish for a few years and you have to keep an Eye on the Condition of youre Tank make sure you change some of the Water from time to time ,and gradually clean everything every so often like Filters etc. I had a few Fish Kills over the years and I just got upset with it all ,and when the last lot gradually died that was it I stopped Keeping Them.

I've had fish that have gotten stuck behind my filter. There is really nothing you can do to save them. Fish need the ability to move through the tank, take that away, and well, they just don't make it, or at least mine haven't. Sorry for your fish

most likely not. i had tetra fish and it sounds like it had an infection. and then got caught in the filter. if its that small, it might not live. a fish getting caught in a filter, (no matter what its size) could kill it. i suggest u just wait & hope for the best. i hope ur fish gets better though.

He can not be saved.

Once you see a fish get stuck to the filter, he won't last much longer.
