Buy a window air conditioner and use it in a room where the cat can hang out most of the time.

Leave lots and lots of water around. I do in different rooms and in the bathroom. Also, make sure to have areas of the house that are shaded from incoming light, so the cat can stretch out there. Usually dark, cool corners. My cat likes to spread out on newspaper in the bedroom. I also turn on fans and in every room I can.
You'll know if your cat is starting to suffer. His behavior will change (listless, lethargic, not active during his normal active times) and he may get over heated. Just try and make him as comfortable as possible and if you're really concerned, call your vet for more tips.

make sure there is plenty of fresh water for the cat, and pulling down the shades or closing the drapes in the house will keep the sun from beating in and heating the place up. If it's a long haired cat, maybe trimming down the fur will help it stay cool..

Room temperature water and LOTS of it. Refill that bowl five or six times a day at least. NOT cold water. The shock of the cold water when your cat is that hot can cause it's intestines to twist and the cat will die. You should always give pets room temperature water. I can't emphasize quantity enough. Lots and lots.

You could leave a fan on it. My cats like fans. Make sure it has plenty of water & ice and a shady place somewhere in the house. Sometimes the bathroom is cooler than other rooms. Maybe leave the tub faucet on for a cool drip of water.

Just make sure he has enough water to drink and see that he has some shade; maybe even a fan if indoors....I never had an AC growing up and my cats were fine....hope this helps and makes you feel better.

Get a bunch of 20 oz. bottles from sodas. Fill them 2/3s full of water and freeze them. Then, when it gets really hot, put them out so your cat can lean against/lie on them.
