Start by dividing the emotions into two types - good and bad, then refine those areas into some more narrow topics such as love related, work related, social, etc.

basic emotions: fear, anger, happy, sad and sexual feelings. all are normal and from these basic emotions everything else comes forth. You may feel depressed, but I was taught that underlying fear or guilt is more likely to be the true feeling. there is lots you can analyze about feelings and everyone has them. emotional disorders are common and differ greatly. unresolved anger can become guilt, which can become fear, which can become depression... I've been taught that it is best to always recognize what you feel, even if you don't really know how to handle it. No emotion can be classified as good or bad. you can experience them as positive or negative, but they are there and that is only fact. nothing good or bad about emotions. How you behave or act on emotions is a different thing, but the fact that they exist and are felt is neutral. Most people are guided or lead by feelings and emotions, if they know it or admit it or not. Most people say: yeah I knew I didnt like it.... and never realize they have an advanced sensory system of feelings and emotions that guides them... blah blah.. you need to find yr own words for this... but maybe you got some ideas now :)

You're right...types of emotions...
Think about happy, sad, angry, fearful, excited, confused, guilty, shocked, anxious, surprised, ashamed, etc. Pick whichever 3 emotions you want to write about.
Then...create an intro--talk about emotions in general and then give your main idea in one sentence: Three emotions are [blank].
Next, write about one emotion in each body paragraph. Give some examples. What does someone look like when they're happy? Sad? Angry? (whichever emotions you pick)
Lastly, write a conclusion...maybe something about which emotion you are most of the time. Be creative! :-)
