I'm 5.6, 148 lbs. And i'm 10 weeks pregnant. My doctor told me anywhere from 20 to 40 lbs is ideal. But that doesn't tell me much. If any of you were similiar to my size how much did you gain with your pregnancy? I don't want to gain too much and end up with extra weight to lose after the baby is here. But I don't want to gain too little and have my baby suffer the consequences. What are your opinions?

I'm 5'8" and 145. With my first pregnancy I gained 33 pounds. I was able to lose all the weight by the time my son was 12 weeks old (without any exercise by the way lol)

My advice, don't worry about the number on the scale. Just eat a healthy, balanced diet and you will gain the perfect amount of weight for your baby :)

When I got pregnant with my son I weighed 140 lbs. I only gained 23 lbs during the whole pregnancy. So I was 163 at delivery. When my son was 2 weeks old, (I breast fed) I was back down to 145 lbs, and basically wearing my pre-pregnancy clothes. Your doctor is right 20 to 40 lbs is about right. Don't starve yourself and your baby during your pregnancy, just to stay small. That is never a good idea. Everyone is different. I ate whatever I wanted and only gained the 23 lbs. Good Luck, and Congratulations on your pregnancy.

I think you Doctor is right. I am also 5.6 and with my first son I weighed 140 and gained 26 pounds- he was 8.2 pounds. My second son I was 129 and gained 22 pounds and he was 6.3 pounds- they were both completely healthy. I didn't gain much in the beginning- but from seven months onward I packed it on. Just be most careful of carbs- you do need them- but they make you gain the most weight and have a larger baby- so if you can try to limit them somewhat. I'm sure you will be fine!

I received approximately 35 with every of mine. They had been 6 lb, 6 lb five oz., and six lb thirteen oz.. I do not believe the load obtain has a enormous importance. My sister received 25 lbs and her youngster was once eight lb. The best time it issues is that if a) you obtain an excessive amount of and youngster is dangerous b) you obtain too little and youngster is dangerous Just attempt to devour healthful and undertaking and obtain a slight quantity at a continuously gradual velocity, and your youngster will weigh some thing it's suppoed to weigh.

Eat a healthy diet and try not to worry about your weight. Avoid sweets, soft drinks, fried foods and junk food. Drink skim milk and eat all the cottage cheese you want. Use whole wheat bread and eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Eat plenty of lean meat too.
