What does she actually DO to be a celebrity? I mean I know she is über rich and is supposed to own the Hilton Hotel branch when someone (her dad?) dies. Dthat automaticly classify her as a celebrity? I mean, many (most) hotel owners aren't (celebrities)...

It was that sex tape which was uploaded on to the internet that did it. then along came the offers, A Simple Life etc etc.
It just does to show you though, money can't buy class.

First of all the Hiltons no longer own Hilton Hotels. She has the name only and alot of money or trust from the sale of Hilton. Yes, her last name has helped her become famous, but so did her looks and remember she did do modeling in her teens and early 20's. Not that all this makes you famous, but with the addition of her party lifestyle and looks, the media covered her. Then the sex video came out and made her a household name. Many people were clueless to who she was until that video. The media ate it up and she fueled the fire by doing more outrageuos things.
Does this make her a celebrity ...now a days yes. In the traditional sense NO.

Being in the spotlight nowadays makes you a celebrity,when you have the media all over you taking pictures,that's why people like Madonna,Brittany Spears,Paris Hilton go to extremes doing insane behaviour to be on the news,Madonna is a master at manipulating the media,the others are barely catching on

I agree with most of the answers here. Her sex tape is what started it all. As for her modeling. Her money and name got that for her-not her looks. She doesn't sing all that great. The media and sad to say people like us who want to see what she does next. It just blows the mind to see how far she goes. She has the morals of an alley cat. Her so-called friends are as bad as she is. If she were my daughter I would be so embarassed by her.

haha, i agree with you.. u don't see the daughters or motel 6 becoming all famous or getting a tv show...
paris thinks she earns a living by "acting" "singing" and being on a TV show, but dude, why is she so famous? oh i remember now, she started showing up to all the parties, redcarpets and everything, thats when it started..

I don't understand it either, but she models and she has The Simple Life series, she has been in a movie (House of Wax), and she attempted to put out a record (sucked).
I just grossed myself out because I knew all of that.......eeeewww I read to many tabloids!

well, she did model, reality tv, porno, a few movies. but how she got there is still a mystery. i think she just hob-nobs with other rich people who are actually stars, and she made herself famous by being hot & slutty.... i guess
