It means an Italian person. Is that term conidered offensive, or just in jest?

I am half Italian,it does not bother me.

My brother in law (full blood Italian) had a tatoo, that said:"LiL Dago" He didn't seem to mind the moniker, either.

I am sure, that if not used in a jestful context,it would be offensive to some, however.

Imma Dago and I never hearda that term until I hung out with hicks when I was in the military.....where I'm from the correct disparity for an Italian is 'wop'

and on the Italian side of my family, the middle age generation usually refers to other Italians that are straight off the boat (usually the relatives still living in NYC) as wops.....and usually someone from the older generation will slap them :P

I am half Jewish (Austrian/Polish) and half Italian....I refer to myself as a Jew ginny...or even a bagel bite (the little pizzas on a bagel)

.
