Hot cause you can always wait for it to cool down. If its cold you cant always heat it up because things will always go from hot to cold and never really in the reverse

Generally hot. But I do like some cold foods, like sandwiches.
Obviously ice cream is best cold.
For drinks, generally I prefer cold (except coffee, tea and hot chocolate).
