Jalapenos, Serrano's, Cayenne, hot chili, Anaheim's. You can choose any one or grow a variety and blend them. The first 2 I listed are the mildest hot peppers. Anaheim's are a light heat and Cayenne and hot chili are the hotter variety. To reduce heat and still have the flavor, take the seeds out before adding to your salsa. Chili peppers of all kinds like hot soil. We grew jalapenos in a sandy area of our yard and they did well. The rest, we have grown in deep patio boxes in full sun and have had good results. Good Luck and have fun experimenting! (From northern Indiana)

Depends on how hot you want it. Most salsa use Jalapenos. Habeneros are really hot and can actually ruin an otherwise good salsa. grow some Cilantro also. My salsa is chopped tomatoes, a good bunch of Cilantro leaves, juice of one lemon and about two Jalapenos diced up. You can use banana peppers for color.
