Yes, it should be a day when we reconize all women, especially the one who gave birth to you.

Well, I think we should celebrate all women (and some men who play both roles), who assume the roll of a mother. My boyfriend and I have been living together for almost 2 years and I take care of his 9 year old son just as a mother would. I make him meals, help him with homework, take him shopping, go on trips with him, nurse him when he's sick, take him and pick him up from school, etc etc. I'm not saying I deserve flowers and gifts because that's not the reason I do those things, but so many people are such good parents that I think we should celebrate the people who care for children. So to all "mothers"....HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

No! Not all women who can bear kids want kids. I don't know about the rest of the World but here in Canada we celebrate Woman's day on March 8th.
We mothers, who suffered through childbirth and raising the kids, only get one day a year.

Sure, but don't forget those of us women who can't have a child. I'm lucky enough to be married to someone who has wonderful kids, a great daughter in law to me, and a wonderful little girl. My husband says I am a mother by the way I treat her. Even though I've never pushed one out myself. It doesn't mean I don't care just like my mother and grandmother did. Celebrate all women who take active rolls in kids' lives.

Don't stop there! There are millions of women who cannot conceive at all. Bearing a child - bearing the responsibility of teaching and loving and guiding etc.
Everyone who fits that category needs to be appreciated for their efforts and ability to give up precious moments in their own lives without a second thought. All for the good of the children they are giving those moments to.
This is a wide range of people if you think about it. I think Hallmark would be smart to rethink the holidays a bit. And to all out there that care, provide for, comfort hurts and fears, dry tears, teach, protect, and love a child:
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY !!! Whatever your gender, age, race, position, title, or functioning ovaries. Thank you

Nope. It's Mother's Day. If you don't have kids, you don't qualify. Most 12 year olds are capable of having kids.

um i dont know what to say here. i dont think a mother is necessarily someone who gets pregnent and pops out a kid. i am helping the man i love raise a child that is very special to him. no i did not give birth to him but i do consiter him my kid. i make sure that he goes to school every day and is fed and happy. he knows if he has any problems that he can come to me if he doesnt feel comfortable talkin to his dad. i think that acting motherly is more important than popping out a child and calling yourself a mother. i know alot of women who have had children and dont even care about them. i also know alot of women who have acted motherly to a child who is not their own. think of it how you want but thats how i feel.

You can if you like. My mom use to give me a gift for mother's day when I didn't have children and all of my other sisters did and I thought that was very sweet.

No. I think it should strictly be for women who have children. If you want a day where we celebrate all women then we'll call it Women's Day....which I could really get used to, lol!
