I was diagnosed with GD when I was pregnant with my daughter. I am now pregnant again and I have to go today and take that horrible test. (which I know I am going to fail) Is there anyway that I can lower my blood sugar so I don't fail the 3 hour test? I know that cinnamon lowers sugar but is there anything else that you know of?

People who flunk the test during the first pregnancy should follow the diet for the second pregnancy.
The risks to the infant are LIFE-THREATENING! They include heart defects, immature lungs, and blood sugar imbalances, which could affect his growth/development, including his brain.
Those who fail the GD tests are also very high risk for developing diabetes later, so get used to a healthy lifestyle
now, before you and your children develop it.

Chances are likely that you will have GD again since you had it with the first. There really isn't any way to cheat so you can pass the test. It's all about how your body processes what you take in. The cinnamon thing isn't really proven but it has been known to help. I think you have to take like a tsp a day for a long period of time before it really has an effect. Even if you pass the 3 hour test you may still end up getting GD later in the pregnancy. I have GD now and wish you all the best!

Well, tricking the test is not the best idea. If the test shows a false negative (and it won't, there is no way to trick your body into having lower blood sugars), you'll put your baby at risk because you will think you don't have it.
I know it's hard, but trust me, it's worth knowing. Aren't you glad you knew with the first one?
Cinnamon takes WEEKS to lower your blood sugar by the way.

I won't recommend any such short term measures to mask your blood sugar levels, since GD is a fact of life for some women in pregnancy and it is essential for the doctor and the patient to work together so that the mother and the baby come out healthy from this.

I recommend that you follow your doctor's advice and medication sincerely.

It's better u have the test and not try 'passing' it. Just dont be far away from ur doctor thruout the term.
