I got the cartilage in the top of both ears pierced almost a year ago and every time I change my earrings they get sore again. When I wear posts they stab me in the head during my sleep and rings seem to stay sore. I wore earthreads in them a while and they felt fine but I don't like the dangling look forever. I'd like to keep the holes and find something comfy to wear there. Anyone know of some comfy earrings to wear in my cartilage piercings?

yeah you can get them pierced with gold, just make sure you tell them that, cartilage infections are the worst so I wouldn't take any chances, just go ahead and get gold better to be safe then sorry I got all 7 of my ear piercing's done at walmart my sister got hers done a claires with no problems, and iv never had problems with my walmart piercings they used a gun, now people say for a cartilage its bad to use a gun because it could shatter the ear cartilage because you have muscle there vs with the lobes you don't have muscle, but I think a needle would hurt more but that's just me, id take a 1,2,3 click gun anyday, but I was young I didn't do my research so that's why I just got it done with a gun the second lobes should heal easy peasy, the cartilage is the longest ear piercing that takes a while to fully heal which is like 6 months, just clean the earring and ears everyday and few times a day, don't bump your ear on the phone or touch it so it doesn't get irritated and try not to sleep on it just baby it in general, it will be sore......they usually give you a ear piercing cleaner, but if you ever get a bad infection or even just to clean the ear, use pure rubbing alcohol works wonders, it will sting for a min but it works, its the only thing thats ever worked for my infections by the next day your ear will be significantly better and nearly healed if you use it just to clean a non infected ear it wont sting, just when its infected, alcohol will straight kill there germs dont ever take the earrings out unless it gets too swollen and painful, if you get a bad infection and then take it out, and try to put it back in later, its nearly impossbile so keep the earring in unless it gets really bad, and always wait the 6-8weeks before changing them its important if it was me id just go to claires or walmart, but its up to you

I'm on this boat too. I've tried sleeper style hoops and they are okay but it was just to much metal between me and the pillow. I have three lobes in each ear, a rook in one and a cartilage in the other. The only piercing that doesn't get irritated is the rook. I'm checking out bioplast studs lately. Studs in general seem to be the only thing I can really wear. I am referring to the helix piercing type with balls on the back that screw in. 18 gauge is basically same as a regular earring is.

Your piercings have not healed yet. Nothing should hurt. I like rings.
