Because Ben obviously believes Locke killed his father and before hand he knew he never had it in him and appeared to be shocked along with the others when Locke carried his dead father on his shoulders. And to find out later that Ben killed his father and the others see him(BEN) as this kind of leader. What are your inputs on this? Doesn't it seem odd. And he seemed sort of jealous that Locke heard words of this so called Jacob and Ben did not so he killed Locke it seems as a threat to him and the others. As if the others may kill Ben and in turn follow Locke?

I believe that when Ben read Locke's file, he felt an affinity with him since they were both abused by their fathers. He wanted Locke to feel the same sense of power that he did when he killed his father. That's why Ben was so disappointed when Locke couldn't do it. (That's also why I do NOT think Ben wanted Locke to get Sawyer's file, look what Locke did with the info in it!) I do think that Ben was jealous of Locke being able to hear Jacob. That's why he demanded to know what he said after he shot Locke. He wanted to be able to tell the others what Jacob said to *him* not Locke. But he can't very well tell the others what he REALLY said now, can he?

It think he thought Locke should kill his father cause he killed his. Maybe he thought he underestimated Locke?? Or he knows somethings up but has some reason for keeping it a secret.
I thought that whole Jacob thing was stupid. I knew someone was in the chair or there would have been no point showing that.
If locke's not dead i think they may turn to him as leader if something happens to ben.
I'm glad locke got shot though cause i don't like him and i think even if he didn't die it'll put him in his place and he'll stop trying to boss ben around cause thats just stupid.
I really love this show. But it's such a mystery!!!!!

Locke and Bens mothers are named Emily. How many Emily's do you think are there or are they one in the same and Locke and Ben maybe related??? Jacob does resemble Jacks dad, now that I really look at him. Lots of people didnt even see him, I didnt until it was slowed down and you see him quickly in a silhouette, VERY quickly, after he throws Ben against a wall. Go to abc.com and they are now showing that scene because of all the hits they have gotten on it over night. Creepy, but brilliant from the Lost producers! Thumbs up all the way!!!!

I deffinatley think there is some connection there between Locke and Ben both killing their fathers. I was blown away at all that... Crazy! Anyway, I don't think Locke is dead at all. And yes, Ben was CLEARLY upset that Locke had heard Jacob, which is why he shot him. I'm curious to see who Jacob is. I saw Evangeline Lily on Jimmy Kimmell last night and she admitted to being completley awstruck at the ending for this season, so I'm excited to see it. She also mentioned that they were only doing 3 more seasons, which I actually think is very responsible of the network.

I do agree the the island isn't big enough for both of them. Locke has the advantage right now because Ben thinks he's dead. Locke could go back to Jacob, team up, and really raise some hell.
