There are several factors that would be a good reason to end a marriage. Persistent cheating, any sort of abuse, or loss of feelings for each other beyond a platonic relationship would be the main things I would believe to justify a divorce. A lot of people stay together for the kids but really you're just creating a toxic environment by doing that and setting the children up for bad relationships and social skills in the future.

Divorce is too easy for most people. I think if you get married, it should be mandatory that you must stay married for a minimum of two years. It would make people work things out or think twice about getting married. A divorce should always be a last option. I think if spousal abuse occurs (and let's get out of the stone ages, both genders are guilty of this), if someone is cheating, or someone has a problem with drugs and alcohol divorce should be considered.

It depends on the relationship ... early in a marriage, it could be just the couple finds their marriage isn't working. Once other people are involved, children, then the fact that you are having a few rough spots doesn't give you the right to ruin their lives (and yes, divorce does that). Then divorce should only happen in cases of abuse, danger, drug usage, infidelity, etc. Then, the children's lives are ruined anyway, so divorce can and should be considered.

When the couple has nothing between them to nourish the marriage to keep it alive. It dies, like anything that lacks nourishment.
