what do you use to seal in paint on shoes?

i painted my own shoes using acrylic paint but i need something to seal or protect the paint so it won't chip....what 2 use?!?!!?!?!?

CountryL has a pretty good thought in both things she mentions. Certainly the FLEX is the major issue, unless these are "ART" shoes and won't be worn.

Also as CountryL suggests, without knowing the substance of the shoe material, an answer here may not satisfy you.

If they happened to be fabric covered shoes I probably would have opted for a fabric spray color usually sold at various craft/Art supply stores. Art acrylics will be even less effective in duration than acrylic latex house type paint, but all will be subject to some levels of disappointment.

Also depending on the material of the shoe IE Leather, I would probably "strip" them of any possible waxes/finshes already existing.

I have a suggestion not strictly related, regarding design ideas. "RAINE" Just the Right Shoe" She is an artist who creates miniature shoes in cast resin and decorates and paints them for mass production models...Just a thought, for ideas.

What type of shoes? Leather, manmade, canvas?
You may not be able to protect the paint from cracking as the natural flex of walking is going to stress the paint. To protect the paint from wear and tear, a spray on polyurethane might work.
Or check an art supply store and ask for their suggestions.
