I am paranoid about baby shampoo. Does it really not hurt a baby's eyes? How do they make "tearless" baby shampoo?

I love Johnson and Johnson's all Over Baby Wash. I also don't know what exactly makes it tear free, but I do know that it's true. Whenever I run out of my face wash I use it myself and it never burns my eyes when I'm removing my eye make-up.

I recommend Paul Mitchell's baby cry no more shampoo. Johnson & Johnson's uses a form of novacain (the same stuff they use at the dentist's office) to numb the baby's eyes. I have two children (ages 4 months and 2 years) and my family doctor recommended the Paul Mitchell shampoo. It's a bit pricey but the comfort of knowing it's all natural relief for my kids makes it worth it. Hope I helped and if not, at least gave you something to think about :)

I don't know how they make it, but baby shampoo really can be tearless. I have always used Johnson and Johnson and have never had a problem. And right now we're using Publix brand (we got it free) and haven't had a problem with it either.

I use the Johnsons & Johnsons baby shampoo. My son never complained about the shampoo hurting his eyes. If we knew how they make their tearless product, we would invent our own product to sell.

They add stuff to the formula that prevents the sting. It really does not hurt the eyes, because I tried everything on myself before I used it [ even teething medicine! ] on my kids.
Any tearless shampoo will make it easier to wash baby's hair, making bath time a lot more fun.

The Johnson and Johnsons seems to work for my daughter. I've tried some generics, and they just aren't as good.

They leave out the harsher chemicals - BUT, if you look up the ingredients on the mainstream (J&J) stuff, you'll see that it's still not all that great - go for something more natural, like Burt's Bees.

Oh - and about it not hurting the eyes... NO, it doesn't - I tested it on myself.
