Intelligence isn't just about how we speak it's also about how we hold ourselves and we communicate through actions only. if we couldn't speak then we couldn't be considered less intelligent. Intelligences come in many forms not just through language

essentially everything has a language, if language is a bunch of symbols/gestures/sounds, which it is. the complexity of the language, i would say, doesn't really make intelligence, as something very complex can be a combination of simple things. the speed, accuracy, and amount of words/gestures/sounds remembered makes intelligence. with more of those attributes in a language, one has more to remember. however, it comes down to comparing apples and oranges. to say that our language makes us more intelligent does no justice to the ape who remembers every aspect of his less (or more) complex language.

given the above, language as a symbol being pictures and what not, yes having an internal language allows us to organize our thoughts. but with that definition, language is not restricted to just verbal production. it includes the sensory objects that are taken in by the eyes, ears, skin, etc. so unless someone was completely deprived of all senses then they would have intelligence. as for more intelligence...intelligence is not something tangible or one thing. it's a combination of speed, memory, word recognition, and spatial relation/orientation (how one can turn/place objects in their mind (when thinking about it)).

generally speaking, intelligence is whatever definition one applies. a test then gives the tangible aspect of it which allows for one to say who has less or more. so you can see the problem. if one makes a test that involves some manner of language then, of course those with a better understanding will have more intelligence as deemed so by the test that they took. if they take another test say one physical maneuverability, well you can see the result given a different deviation.

Intelligence and thoughts are different. You can say an intelligent idea.Even if you donot know language ,till you can take intelligent decisions.Henry Ford had no formal education,he was not able to write fluently. But he became biggest and first car manufaturer.No- intelligence needs no language,if you are intelligent you can hire another person to write or speak for you.

Please tell me this may be a humorous tale, and you're actually not probable that ignorant! daylight hours mark downs time is in basic terms a convenience to commerce. it is a length, a counting equipment, not having the slightest effect on the truthfully international temperature. Oh wait, enable me think of approximately this. maybe it does. As you comprehend, as quickly as the sunlight is going down, the air and the exterior of the floor start to kick back off. So while the night rush hour happens after sunset, possibly it provides much less greater advantageous warmth, because of the fact it is being cooled via the cooler air. maybe if quite of daylight hours mark downs time, we had darkness mark downs time . . . yet then the morning rush hour is likewise moved forward . . . your question is giving me a headache.

1) I don`t think we`re more intelligent than anyone or anything because we speak.
2) All sorts of animals and creatures "talk". It so happens we`re not intelligent or modest enough to realise it! In fact even flowers and trees talk!...and stones too, not to mention our Mother Earth! The trouble is we don`t know how to listen!

I tend to think that it's all relative. Language allows us to COMMUNICATE our thoughts but that doesn't mean without language we don't experience concepts that someone has named.

I think that language has allowed us, "progress" because once you can write something down you can preserve it, and make it available to many, but I don't think that makes us more intelligent than anything else.

OOh that would be scary!

good question! :P
i think we would probably be less intelligent because langugae is a way to communicate and through it we develop NEW thoughts. When you SPEAK to someone its a way of shaping your thoughts and developing them, if you didnt have a language you wouldnt be able to do that, you wouldn't be able to analyze your thoughts and there for your thoughts would be limited, which would make u less intelligent.. in my opinion :)

the only priviledge language gives us is to communicate our thoughts, but i think our senses help us to become intelligent. mute people are still intelligent, but they still have the other four senses.

The ability to understand language allows us to think and reason. Otherwise our thoughts would be woof, woof! Even worse moo - moo!
