Seems like you have other issues relating to bonding and communication. I bet there is more issues then just sex that being said, I think the fact that you have an issue discussing sex means you and your wife ( from my prospective) have to work on bonding and trust. You can start being completely alone with her. Try setting up a room in a romantic way ( ie candles, soft music,..etc.). No T.V, No dogs, No kids. Then tell her how special she is to you. Don't make sex a priority but make her your priority and sex should be secondary.

It depends on what sexual topic you wish to discuss with her. I don't agree that using alcohol is a good way to "prime" someone for a serious discussion. A good response to your question would require additonal information regarding why you need to discuss sex with her or what you feel compelled to discuss. A marriage counselor or sex therapist (provided your marriage is sound) might be the best route.

Just start by asking her if it is ok that you both sit down and talk about it... Assure her that everything is awesome but you want to feel open and free to talk about this subject - it will help your marriage if you can be open here....

There shouldn't be a problem there unless you are asking her to do something eccentric like hardcore S&M! If not then just start talking and she will listen.
