The expression 'pee like a racehorse' doesn't have to do with the method, rather the amount.
Racehorses are often given the diuetic Lasix before a race so their lungs won't fill up with fluid.
So they will pee a lot before a race.
Ever hear the expression 'all lathered up' ?
That has to do with horses too.
If a horse does get a build up of fluid in his lungs, some of the fluid is coughed up, and it looks like foamy bubbles coming from his mouth.
That's a horse that needs or should have had Lasix.
