I'm 3 months pregnant, and have an ADORABLE husband that I really enjoy cuddling with and kissing. But ever since becoming pregnant (and developing a super-human sense of smell) - I can't stand kissing him! Even when he's just brushed his teeth, I swear I can smell everything he's eaten in the past few weeks on his breath. It's not his fault, but I get nausiated whenever he breathes a little too close. I certainly can't ask him to stop breathing. I don't want to make him feel bad or self conscious - especially since it's my shnoz that's the real problem, not his mouth! He does keep it clean! But we both feel bad that kissing seems to be off limits. (Even though we promise each other that as soon as the baby's born, we're having a make-up make-out session. ) Is anyone else dealing with this? Any suggestions?

I thought I was the only one! My partner and i used to make out so much our lips would be swollen and deliciously bruised, now we barely peck each other because I can smell EVERYTHING, Sometimes I just try to suck it up and do it anyways, but it's hard. I just explained it to him and we also made a pact to have an all night make out like teenagers session after the baby gets here. He is ok with it. Good luck!
EDIT: for me too, it isn;t the smell of his breath that gets me, it's the smell of his skin around his mouth. Even a good face scrub beforehand doesn;t help!

I had the same super sensative smell thing going on too and even though it didn't really interfere with me kissing my sweety it did make going to the grocery store almost unbearable. I avoided it at all costs!! The good news is that as soon as I entered into my 2nd trimester that subsided and my sense of smell was back to normal. So, just hang on awhile longer and it should ease up for you and you can go back to enjoying you hubby's kisses! Good luck!!

My morning sickness has been so bad that if my shirt touches my neck it makes me nauseated. Anything near my mouth is right out! My husband has taken it in stride. We do a lot of hugging, cuddling, massages, and I give him lots of kisses on the cheek etc. If you haven't told him about the smell issue, don't, just tell him that your body has turned on you and that anything in or near your mouth is just too much right now. For many women, morning sickness will subside and the smell won't make you as nauseated in a few weeks. (I'm one of the unlucky ones who still has morning sickness for two weeks after I deliver.) For now, touch as much as you can in other ways and don't forget closed-mouth kissing. Good luck, and best wishes.

Find other ways to be close to your hubby. Super-human smell is something I have to deal with too. I just choose to ignore most smells eminating from family members and if my hubby wants a make-out session, he avoids strong smelling foods like garlic, onions (they make me nauseous).

Try getting him to eat more parsley, I also believe it is available in pill form. If it doesn't help it isn't going to hurt.
