kapute..I am not saying inayone is caving, but Bush is going to have to give some. A bunch of Republicans met with him yesterday and told him he has no credibility when it comes to the war.

There's a big difference between a benchmark and a timeline.

Let's say you are going to drive across country from coast to coast. You plan the route you'll take and have landmarks, like Philadelphia, Chicago, Denver, etc. Those are benchmarks that measure your progress.

A timeline is when you set a deadline to reach each one, and if you fail to meet that deadline, the trip is over.

Big difference. Bush isn't caving on the idiocy of using timelines in a war.

If Bush is not willing to compromise, congress should cut off funding completely. Just like they did to Clinton regarding Kosovo. I wish the Democrats we voted into office would quit waffeling and get the job done. Get our troops out.

Benchmarks are acceptable...time lines (totally different) are not. looks like congress is finally seeing the light and backing down...

if you mean progress in the war, always, if you're trying to be cute saying that Bush is coming around, you're loony
