The Dell Inspison use a relatively standard laptop hard drive, called a 2.5" drive. Have not worked on a 1501, but most Dell laptops have an adaptor on the back of the hard drive. It converts the drive from what is normally to rows of small pins to a flat connector. You may have to remove that adaptor (just gently pull it off) in order to be able to use the drive in a different laptop.
Am not familiar with the HPZE 4400. Check the HP website and see if it uses a 2.5" drive. If it does, you should be able to swap them.
