I was formatting my laptop to restore it to factory setting and got stuck in the middle due to bad/scratch restore cd's. I want to download windows xp for my laptop (nothing illegal). I have a genuine non pirating key. I need my laptop running fast!! anywhere where I can download it the legal way?

if you have a fully functional key that is yours from a previous install then call Microsoft directly. WIth an OS it's not the software that is illegal it's the license Key. As said up above you can call the vendor or you can call Microsoft. My old roommate had that happen to him and he called Microsoft, not only did they end him the software, but they sent him a new fully functional license key. Remember when it comes to software pirating, its not the software it's the license key that decides weather or not it's illegal.

Unfortunately you don't download from the web an XP version unless it is an illegal one. You might have to buy another copy of XP. Now if one of your recovery disk is corrupted, I will suggest to order new recovery CDs from your vendor or check online companies offering CDs recovery for different vendors. Normally the price is kind of low .

I think you may want to edit your question title first.

I would contact your laptop vendor and request a replacement system restoration CD. You may have to pay a minimal cost for the replacement but I think that would be the easiest thing for you to do.

now microsoft wouldn't want us to share that information would they? LOL

get a replacement from vendor and have it overnight.

this is the best legal way.

even if you download one, your product key might not work with the version you got off the internet unless its the exact same release. :)

The Xp disc is about 150-200 dollars, its not that bad and you could find cheaper off of friends that don't need them and such.
