The way you drive is more important than you might think. Jack rabbit starts use way more gas than the steady as you go approach. Give it a try!
Hope that helps!

You can drive with the AC off, which will help, but open windows could increase drag, which may offset the improvement.
And, like someone else pointed out, easy acceleration gives you a marginal improvement. Less stop-and-go is good, although that may be beyond your chances as it's situational. Lastly, while each car has a peak efficiency point, you may want to go the speed limit on the highway. I am one of those 75-in-a-60 mph people, but 60 is probably more efficient for most cars.

You could try to avoid quick starts or stops. Don't speed, and try driving with the A/C off as much as possible. That's about it. Without modifying the engine, you are left with few choices.
If you are into engine mods, try increasing the exhaust and intake manifold sizes so the car breathes easier, or down sizing the injection nozzles so it injects less fuel into the combustion chanber.
The easiest way is to trade it for a hybrid.

buy a gas additive..like gas-line anti freeze (make sure you get the kind with isopropyl alcohol...not methanol!!) It will get the water out of your gas. Also, using a fuel injector cleaner helps a lot! Always be sure to read the bottle. These should be safe for catalytic converters. Have the oil changed every three months or 3,000 miles. And have it in for regular "tune-ups" and have spark plugs changed...if they get corroded or rusty, it can affect the performance of your vehicle. Hope this helps!

What was stated plus a good tune-up. Make sure you have good wires and plugs, and a nice clean air filter. You can get a K&N filter as well to improve airflow. But really if you did everything everyone has mentioned you might see a 10% increase in efficency so don't count on it saving you thousands in fuel costs.
