I made arrangements with one person at my finance company on Tuesday of this week. Then yesterday (Wednesday) another person called from there to ask if I was keeping the arrangements. These arrangements were for Friday of this week. Shouldn't they be required to wait until Friday? I feel like this is harrassment. Is it?

It becomes harassment when they call you every single day or before the hours of 8:30am and after 6:00pm. If they call your job this is a bigger no-no. In the event they call you more than once a month after payments are being made towards your debt they would be in violation of The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. File a complaint immediately with the Federal Trade Commission at www.ftc.gov/ftc/consumer.html

Please make sure they send you a copy of the arrangement in writing. There have been cases the institution denies any arrangment and the consumer has no proof.

It is harassment. Tell them the arraignments have been made and they are going to talk to a dial tone if they keep calling. Make sure you have those arraignments in writing otherwise they may not follow them and you have no proof to go back to.

If they continue, then tell them they are in violation of the The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act at www.ftc.gov/ftc/consumer.html and that you will file a complaint with the FTC.
