Well, I didn't buy it, but a small portable TV that was my graduation present from grandparents in 1973. It went to college with me, was in my first apt., moved to the kitchen for a few years and now keeps hubby company in his workshop. I know it was not expensive and after more than 30 years is still going strong.

Rice Cooker! I bought it for 39.00 and I use it to cook everything. Soup, Steamed Vegetables, anything I want to boil, etc. It never over cooks anything. Shuts off automatically, then switches to a keep warm cycle. Never heats up the kitchen, so a real money saver in the summer. Easy to take for pot lucks, it's the most versatile appliance I own, and I use it daily!

$3 for a set of 10 artists' brushes at Big Lots

They have been invaluable to me in doing touch-ups around my house, which we've been in the process of painting and remodeling for about a year now, and still have 2 more rooms to go.
