Any wave medium used to create images can image details no smaller than its wavelength. This applies to light waves, sound waves radio waves, whatever. Using ultrasound allows for more detailed images due to the shorter wave length of ultrasound as compared to audible sound waves.

The higher the frequency the better the resolution.
