I used to live in Watford a number of years ago and I remember being able to buy a ticket which allowed me to travel with the normal train service into central London and then travel on the underground for the day.

I think the Zones etc may have changed now as I cannot find any information on such a ticket, does anyone live in Watford and know if it is still possible to buy such a ticket and if so what it costs. I can't call the enquiry line as I live outside the UK at the moment so any help would be great.

Thanks

London's Underground reachs Watford at Watford station which is part of the Metropolitan line. This station is located in Zone A. One way cash ticket to central London would cost 5.50 pounds. If you have an Oyster card, it woud be 4.50 at peak and 3.00 at off-peak times. If you like to have a Day Travelcard that will enable you to travel from Watford and use the underground freely in central London, it will cost 14.50 for peak travel and 7.80 for off-peak.

Watford Junction is another story as it is out of the London tranport zones and is a rail station.

You have the Watford Encountered station and Wtaford Junction station. Watford Met is the tube station at the conclusion of London Underground's Urban Track. Watford Junction is the Nationwide Rail station on the line connecting London Euston to the West Midlands and North West. You can catch travel cards from equally stations but will price diverse expanses.

There are in effect two types of station in Watford. You have the Watford Met station and Wtaford Junction station. Watford Met is the tube station at the end of London Underground's Metropolitan Line. Watford Junction is the National Rail station on the line linking London Euston to the West Midlands and North West. You can get travlcards from both stations but will cost different amounts. The travelcard from Watford Met will cover you only for Transport for London controlled tubes, DLR, trams, and buses and that is what you pay for. The travelcard from Watford Junction will cover you for the tube and DLR plus the National Rail Service to London Euston, inevitably costing you more as you are paying two suppliers. This will change in autumn 2007 when TfL takes over some of the routes from Wtaford Junction thereby placing Junction and Met stations in the same tube zone (Zone A).

I live in Watford High Street next to the Church but I have only used public transport once since I have lived here. London Transport uses 'Oyster Cards' now to go on the underground etc but you can't buy them in Watford. London travel is divided into Zones and they don't come out as far as Watford anymore. You could try doing a search on tfl.gov.uk for in depth info.

Yes, you can get a Travelcard (daily, weekly or monthly) with an extension to Watford Junction. It's more expensive than the normal Travelcard though as Watford is outside the zones.
