It depends on a few things: What OS are you running? i.e Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP or Mac? You will most definitely need a wireless card installed on your PC. Your new wireless card will need to be compatible with whatever OS it is that you're running. As long as this is the case, I see no reason why you would not be able to access the internet via a wireless a network. However, before adding a lot of hardware to your 7 year old PC, consider getting a new one. A lot of times you can add all this hardware to a defunct PC when it would be a better investment to just get a new one. Hope this helps.

Depends on the RAM and the OS. If you have 256 MB or ram (to run the appropriate drivers for the wireless hardware).
You will get USB wireless dongles; so opening up the cabinet may not be necessary. Most versions of GNU/Linux will run on 7 year computers (mine is 8 years old; and I use wifi, blue tooth and IR and USB printer and digital camera and browse the net and edit photos and ; but I run GNU/Linux).
Your mileage may vary. ;)

Only with Windows 98 or above (some need 98SE) and a Wireless PCI card (USB on 98 doesnt work that well from experience).

Depends what OS you're running...
You *will* need to make changes... you *will* have to add a wifi card and the drivers. If it's an old OS you may not be able to get the drivers for it, which would mean 'no' to wifi connection.
If it's 7 years old running win98... probably no. win98se... maybe. winME... probably no (cos winME was crap and is mostly unsupported). Win2000... probably yes. XP or newer, yes.
