I would go with Insure For All (http://www.insureforall.com). They are a competitively priced, specialise in senior travel insurance (so you will probably get the best quote and cover for those aged over 65) and cover pre-existing medical conditions. They have won some insurance awards recently aswell.

Not sure if they still do it, but the RAC had insurance, and all you had to do was see your GP before you went on holiday and providing he put in your notes that you were fit to travel you were OK..I used to be with them but haven't travelled for a couple of years...it wasn't expensive only about £126 for two for a year, SAGA is also good.

Age Concern do a very good insurance for that age group
My parents are 87 and 79 years old and they have no problems getting insured with them

Try Flexicover, we have been with them quite a few times, I know what you mean about age and medical problems, its a nightmare some times the insurance costs more than the holiday.
