Last night we saw the mysterious Jacob acutually we didnt thats the sad part, so anyways what do you think about Jacob who is he or what is he, why does he have his own house, what was up with the ash surrouding the house, ANSWER PLEASE

My guesses, he is a ghost, or someone on another plane of existence.
I think the ash is NOT gunpowder but perhaps something like a circle of protection or entrapment to keep Jacob there (hence the "help me" to Locke).

Check out msnbc. They have a couple awesome articles about last night's episode. One of them links to a Lost 'easter egg' sight that has the Jacob scenes in still frame. There actually was someone in the chair!
I either think that the ask surrounding the house was either gun powder OR volcanic lava ash - only because they made a point of talking about volcano's in the Dharma school. Besides, isn't Portland, Oregon close to Washington and the whole Mount St. Helens thing - maybe they aren't as far away from civilation as we all think???? Oregon / Washington would put them close to Alaska too .... (think Polar Bears!)

I'm not sure who he is, but since Ben has been less than truthful to anyone on the island, I don't believe that Jacob is the leader. I think Ben may have Jacob trapped in that house... hence him telling Locke that he needs help.

There were actually two points that you could see flashes of Jacob. Search online and you can find screen shots of him. I don't know why a ghost would need a house, so I don't know if he is a ghost or what in the world he is.

actually if you looked closely they shown a capture real quick of him. i think they want him to be annonymous on lost for a while
