Yes, clean it with a good anti virus software

Try Avast www.avast.com, download the Home version, set it to scan when computer reboot.
Then run some anti spyware software (ie. Adaware) to clean out the junk, should improve your speed by a good margin

Hi this is what you need to do -

1. Click Start > My Computer > View System Information > System Restore and turn off System Restore by checking the box that says "turn off System Restore on all drives".

2. Download install and run AVG free anti-virus from http://www.grisoft.com (totally free)

3. Download, install and run AVG free anti-spyware from http://www.ewido.com (also totally free)

4. After removing any viruses/ spyware that the above find, switch System Restore back on by repeating step 1 and unchecking the box.

5. Reset your pc to how it was before you got the viruses by going to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.

These steps will remove viruses totally from your system without them to be able to be restored and then will put your pc back to a time when your pc was running at the correct speed. Keep the anti-virus and anti-spyware up to date with the free updates, they will tell you when there is a new one with a bubble next to your task bar. Then your pc will be virus free and fast.

Run your anti-virus program in safe mode. If you have none go to www.CyberDefender.com. Download the CyberDefender Free 2.0. Costs nothing.

To run in safe mode continually tap F8 while booting up. If you see Windows flag you have gone too far and need to turn off comp and start again. When you see the black and white DOS screen choose Safe Mode, lay your mouse over generic icons and when you see CyberDefender, start it. Takes longer in safe mode but it will probably get rid of all your viruses. Good luck.

Yikes! You need to get rid of the viruses. Question is, how do you know you have them if you don't have anti-virus software?

Google 'anti-virus freeware' to get some suggestions - if your pc is slow, such a program will take some time to download, but worth it.

I use AntiVir Personal Edition Classic - see www. avira.com
